it is fantastic weather out here. i decided to ditch my family and move to jena for the week. i helped a friend with her thesis. she mainly neded someone to check grammar and language issues. i also tried to transcibe an interview she did but that was too complicated. she knows her questions (and the answers) far better than i so it took me forever to get 10 minutes done. no thanks.
when i was not working on that thesis i was seeing friends i went to university with. though i’ve seen some of them a few weeks back, it was great to see them again because last time there was so much catching up to do, it was not really relaxing. so i hang out in many cafe’s around jena and had so much coffee and ice….maybe too much.
i wanted to travel to leipzig today actually, to see my professor from grand rapids who taught for a week in germany. too bad. when i was on the platform with my just-bought-train ticket they announced that the train will not stop in jena due to some problems. other trains to leipzig would not arrive either. great! they told me and other travellers we could take another train to another city and then try to get to our destinations from there but the deutsche bahn (train company) could not say of the train would leave fromt he other city as they share part of the tracks and we were not told where exactly the problem was.
so i met my friends instead…*mad*evil* and when i got home i checked the news and there they said that the tracks had been closed since the early morning because the train hit a trailer. so why in the world doesn’t the deutsche bahn relay that information to the travellers sooner? i was at the train station at 10:20am, the accident happened around 5am….i don’t get it. really.
i guess ihave to go to grand rapids then
some new job openings that i found online. i’ll apply to one in mozambique and one in brazil. i guess (hope) now my choice of portuguese instead of spanish comes in handy. i really hope that this works out. i would love to go back to moz.
well, hope you are all doing well.
take care,
franzi
