mission accomplished, i hope

i finally got rid of my apartment in WI. it took three months to find a new tenant (but i’m not getting into how much i believe that this was just a scam). the new lady is really nice and i came to realize that the real estate agent treated her like a money machine as well. what was really interesting for me, for weeks, he called because he wanted the new tenant in there sooner – of course without me being reimbursed for the rent that i had already paid. so i politely declined. and he called again and again. and then the new tenant called as well. talking about pressuring people, right? i actually believe they wanted my rent and the rent of the new tenant. you know, telling her, she can move in sooner and that this would be fine by me where all along it wasn’t.

eventually, i agreed on a week sooner, and the new tenant paid the rent to me. and then the calls started if it would be ok if she could move in a day sooner, and a day sooner…god!!! so annoying, let me tell you!

so, to make a long story short, i went to WI this past friday to hand over the last set of keys personally, pick up some last things, and of course see my friends there. good thing i went to the apartment in person because, guess what?!, they took down the wrong numbers for the water usage! what in the world?! you know, and this only happened because the owner didn’t care about showing up, despite telling me and the new tenant he would. the real estate agent was all about getting his money soon – so he didn’t bother what numbers he took down.

the new tenant and i took down the correct numbers and i made sure the electricity/gas people finally understand that i am moving out. that has been another struggle i’ve been dealing with for a month. i can’t tell you how relieved i am that at least on the paper, this situation is over.

in about 2 weeks or so, i will get the final electricity and gas bill. for the water, i think i have to wait until next february *darn long if you ask me*.

i’m also waiting for the deposit, supposedly the bank transfer was started.

my vacation in norway is in it’s planning stages – i’m so excited to see a new country! if you have any norway travel tips, let me know!

what a day for a daydream

today was a great day! as simple as that.

it started out great when we got the results of a survey we did among prospective students. the majority answered positively – which, considering that we worked very long hours for three days straight – was music to our ears. we realized that our efforts to give every applicant as much individual attention as possible, seems to be working. maybe they don’t sign up, maybe they will. but what is important is that they have a positive experience with the school and talk about it in a positive light.

then, i continued to do my alumi work and managed to get some space in the hallway to present the alumni work. this is important because many people (students, and alumni alike) think that there is no alumni life. wrong folks! there’s just no easy way to reach people.

i then contacted people who have started their application process but failed to hand in all the documents. of course i want them to apply and start their masters with us! so i just ask them if they had any problems etc.

and one lady contacted me saying she is so surprised that we are so nice and considerate. i just love to get notes like these. out of the blue. she could have told me that the stupid software didn’t work, or that we are way too expensive. or that we treated her like sh@& – and i fully expect any of these replies. but then there are these nice replies that make your work worthwhile.

and then about an hour ago i booked a flight to norway (oslo) to see my college friend! i am so excited! unfortunately, i have to wait until august to actually travel, but it will so be worth it! happy happy happy, i am happy!!!

death freaks me out

ok, it’s official, death and all that which comes along with it freaks me out. i saw a hearse today and had to realize that  the thought of someone dead being driven around in this thing is just creepy-freaky.

you know, if these cars would look differently, more like regular cars i guess, than i wouldn’t be so…stupid…about it. go tell the car makers that franzi wants a new type of hearses!

i’m off to reading my creepy exorcism novel. that is quite a read!
