thank you german postal service

a decision on a flu shot/h1n1 shot will be taken at a later point. there are currently 32 cases in my state and i don’t think it’s likely i’ll be number 33. if i am, it’s too late for the immunization anyways.

and recently i heard many immunization-side-effect stories…scary!

what i am mightily pissed about right now is the german postal service. i mailed a birthday letter to the states. i had no idea about the postage so i went to the post office around the corner. it’s not a real post office but rather a store that does the mail business on the side. nontheless, it’s advertised as a post office branch.

so i went there, they checked in a booklet for the necessary postage, stuck the stamps on and charged me. i thought the letter was underway. it was, today it was back in my mailbox saying the postage was insufficient. WTF??? how am i supposed to know? that’s why i go to a post office for heavens sake.

of course, the mail service stamped the stamps so they cannot be used (i.e. i cannot just add the additional stamps  - i need a new envelope and new stamps). so i paid the first postage for nothing (and that wasn’t cheap). bummer. thank you very much! the nice evening i had out with friends is officially ruined.

of course i fired off a complaint email to the postal service. i doubt that will change anything. worst of all, it’s a birthday mailing that is definitely too late now. sorry brina!

  1. we are annoyed by the german post as well… ordered a book last week at amazon usually it takes 1 or at most 2 days. As usually we also let it deliver to the packstation. So last week on mon or sunday we ordered it was supposed to be a present so plenty of time to arrive till saturday – but it didn’t so we called amazon – they said it could take up to 7 days :/. Okay so it was delivered yesterday … we supposed to be… they didn’t dropped it off at the packstation instead we need to pick it up at a branch like urs in a supermarket – which of course has normal oppening times… but I can’t get there so easily without a car… and my husband usually works in this hours – stupid post…

  2. PS_ i am not sure if I should get a flu shot, too.

  3. Ah, Deutsche Post. I will never understand their pricing system. The machine outside the post office always tells me something different to their website :-/
