i attended a workshop today on communication. basically it was focussed on giving feedback and conveying bad news.
especially the bad news part i hadn’t really done yet so i learned quite a lot. we also focussed on what an active listener is supposed to do and geez, it’s tough! i am jumping to conclusions way too much, especially when i’m talking to someone i know well like a friend. it’s easy to just say “oh i know what you mean” but that is already concluding something and quite frankly, we do not know what the other one really means or how they really feel. so that’s something i need to work on in order to improve my communication skills: listen and then listen again without applying my line of thought but instead be all like “did i understand you correctly that…”
soooo, if you talk to me in the upcoming weeks please don’t be put off by me trying to understand you really well!
