i stumbled upon this book in a brooklyn book store and was instantly hooked after reading a few pages. granted, it sounds like one of those self-help books like chicken soup for the soul and the like. yet this book is a lot more than that. it explains why we are after happiness and what each and ever one of us thinks happiness is. and while we’re running after happiness we make all kinds of mistakes because, well basically because we don’t trust our guts, because we do trust our guts. because we don’t use our brains, and because we do. because we don’t ask our peers and if we do don’t accept their advice.
reading this book will not make you happier but it will make you think about why you strive for this feeling you call “being happy” and what it truly means to you. you’ll gain an insight into how our minds work that is quite incredible (and made me consider studying psychology).
daniel gilbert has a funny way of writing and uses a lot of psychological background info to illustrate his point. great book!
