i survived my trip to bavaria (munich to be precise) and to give the city credit, i was positively surprised that the people spoke german and not in their thick bavarian accent that i just don’t understand.
the only “bavarian speaking person” i met at the train station on my way back. there were in fact 2 trains leaving at the same time to the same final destination (berlin). go figure. he was confused as to which train to take and once he made me realize that both trains go to berlin (i go either by departure time or destination when i look up the train platform because typically either information is sufficient to find the right train). in this case it was a little more complicated.
anyways, we both managed to board the correct train and about 5 hours later i was back in the office working some more hours. because i like it that way (NOT!).
i didn’t see much of munich so please forgive me for not splurging about what a beautiful city it is. it was rainy and snowy and freaking cold so the only part of the town that i saw was the subway, one old gate, and a square (i forgot the name) that the taxi driver explained to me as “during adolf’s time, that’s where they had the big party events” — aha, right, that is definitely what i would tell tourists?!?!?
oh, in the morning it was snowy and since i didn’t experience snow yet this winter i kind of forgot that it’s slippery. MISTAKE! i almost landed on my bum in front of the hotel. i don’t really know what i did to save the situation but i know i looked funny as i tried to regain my balance while not dropping my bags, work equipment and suitcase. go work-franzi!
on a side note, someone dear to me is in the hospital tonight. please keep him in your thoughts! thank you all.

I was in Munich as a teenager and I quite enjoyed it. Mostly because I loved the food!
