yes people, i do find humor in the fact that there’s currently a documentary on tv on how amazing the new berlin airport will be, how big, how efficient, how customer friendly. and that this weekend is the open house of the new airport.
problem is: that airport will not open in june as planned. it was scheduled to open last october, postponed to june and now the opening is postponed indefinitely. the reasons vary from insufficient fire protection to actually unfinished terminals and gates.
whatever the reasons, this airport that was hailed as super-duper-uber great and absolutely necessary is a big joke. whatever happened to german engineering and ingenuity? who planned and supervised this project? geez folks, calling off an airport opening 2 weeks prior to the actual opening is not very smart, in fact it is mighty stupid and very inconsiderate of all the travelers and airlines involved. we’re not talking about some provincial small airport, we’re talking about a bigger, better airport that berlin’s politicians so desperately needed wanted. yes, in this case it would have helped to think a little harder about want and need.
what a waste of money and how embarrassing for the world to see. thank you for the unintended humor of the documentary.
