books i read in 2011

1-The Lost Symbol – Dan Brown
i liked his previous Robert Langdon stories and while this book was a good read, captivating and a page turner, i wasn’t as fascinated as with the da vinci code.
2-The Year of Living Biblically – A.J. Jacobs
i probably would not have picked up this book if i had seen it in the store based on the title but it is definitely worth the read. in a way i feel like i had a glimpse into the bible (and many versions of it). go pick up the book, it’s worth it.
3-A Reliable Wife – Robert Goldrick
i did not like the style of writing so without further ado i tell you that this is not my book.
4-Musicophilia – Oliver Sacks
i love music so i enjoyed reading this book which is all about medical conditions and how music plays a part in either the symptoms or the recovery. if you’re not too afraid of medical terms read the book.
5-Spiele mit der Macht – Marion Knaths (German only)
german women need to learn quite a lot about how to deal with a male dominated (upper) management. this book is a good start for all of us.
6-The five secrets you must know before you die – john izzo
the title sums it up quite accurately. quick read.
7-Die Feigheit der Frauen – Bascha Mika (German only)
this book is a wake up call for (german) women to be aware of role traps. a feminist read but worth it!
8-The tao of Pooh – Benjamin Hoff
cute read with a hint of chinese philosophy. only suitable for those who can deal with winnie the pooh stories
9-Everything you have is mine – Sandra Scoppettone
nice detective story albeit a bit outdated by now
10-We need to talk about Kevin – Lionel Shriver
disturbing read but very captivating. do not read if you are sensitive to school violence.
11- Sex, drugs, and economics – Diane Coyle
this book is perfect for those who don’t care much about economics but want to learn some basics just to be on the safe side
