achievements all day long

i finally, finally, finally assembled my living room furniture – and yes, you can be my witness.

it consists of four l-shaped racks, and well, my dvd rack. the other picture shows some suggestions on how to place two racks. mind you, i have four and i am a little overwhelmed. i thought i had it all figured out but now that it’s all assembled, i am unsure what to stack where and how.

if you have any suggestions, let me know! i won’t unpack my books just yet. i’ll have to sleep on the current layout  to know if i like it or not, and of course i want to see if you have some mind blowing idea.

and guess what, now that you have seen this pic, you can’t say you didn’t see my new apartment yet! hehe. i’m so smart, i know. you’ll get real pictures when i feel more comfortable to post them. it’s really a mess right now and the living room looks spotless because i needed space to assemble the racks.

yesterday morning, i had a painter over who was supposed to take care of a spot on the wall that resulted from a water leak. he managed to be late and then he had the wrong paint! what??? i don’t have time for this! he came back today and he had the right paint in the right shade of white. maybe he was pulling an april fools prank on me the day before…dunno.

remember to tell me how to place my racks!!!

best,

pay day!

gotta love my employer! a week on the job and i already get paid! ;-) they pay on the 15th of each month, whereas before, i was paid at the end of each month. doesn’t seem much difference, but actually this month it is helping me because i don’t have such a big gap between pay days from the 2 jobs.

my first week was busy and interesting. i had several moments where i felt like i am actually being taken seriously and people care about my opinion (on the other hand that also means that i need to have an opinion and that people expect me to be proactive). i have the feeling that my responsibilities and chances have increased so much… definitely the right decision to switch jobs!

my full-time position is split into part-time marketing work, where we are a team of three total, and part-time alumni work, where i am my own department. so actually, i am a head of department. sounds great to me! add an intern to that and i am head of department with staff responsibility. oh my!

but i actually had the feeling that i could be of use. that they valued my opinion and arguments. this is something i am not used to from my previous job.

also, i had a couple of handy men over because the heating needed to be fixed and something needed to be measured regarding the turning knob on the radiator. whatever. i hope that was it. i was running home from work to let them do their work, then went back to work…way too stressful.

tomorrow, i am having my first visitors. my sister and niece are coming to stay for the weekend and especially for my niece this seems to be the trip of a lifetime. she is three, mind you, but she is totally excited. because we plan to go to the zoo, she can’t wait to hit the road. aunt franzi and a zoo, how great can life get? oh, and she also wants to sleep in my bed which will result in me resorting to 40cm space on the side because she is taking up SO much space when she is sleeping….kids. gotta love them.

before they arrive, i have to do some major cleaning. i managed to sweep and mop once during the week, but ya know, when there are visitors coming, you want things to be a little bit more clean than usual. i can deal with dirt, but i don’t want my guests to feel not welcome…

big hug and thank you for all your thoughts this week!

i am working on new posts and hope next week i will post more.
