i like watching csi. the mix of abysmal human character, technical details and psychology is something that appeals to me.
today over lunch a friend told me that she was out two nights ago and missed the last tram. as you may or may not know it’s freaking cold in germany at the moment and naturally she wasn’t too crazy about walking home in the middle of the cold winter night. she started to walk home but then saw a trash collector emptying out the trash bins at the tram stop.
now ladies, when you’re by yourself in the middle of the night and see a stranger on the street, what do you do? right, chat the guy up. WTF??? i thought my friend knew better but she indeed talked to the lonesome trash collector at the tram stop.
ok, i don’t want to criminalize anyone and i don’t think trash collectors are evil people. but i seriously doubted her decision making process.
she actually asked the trash collector where he was going and if she can ride with him for a little bit to get closer to her apartment. the dude agreed and ended up driving her home despite his route being on the other side of town.
she told me nonchalantly and what do i say? instead of a mild “really, i think that was the wrong decision” i said: “are you crazy? the trash collector? if he killed you he could have disposed of your body right away (hello? the trash truck!) and no one would have ever seen you again!!!”
another friend hearing that conversation started laughing at my response and said i watch too much csi, but really folks, if i had the intention to harm someone AND was driving a trash truck AND it would be in the middle of the night with no other witnesses…i’m just saying it’s convenient to have a trash truck.
my friend should make more careful decisions, trash truck or not.
