oh dear service gods

alright, we all learned by now that i am a person who appreciates service culture. you don’t have to pamper me from head to toe. but if i am spending money at your place i expect to be treated a certain way. the german postal service at least made up for their mishap.

yesterday night i found out that the guy who back in wiesbaden was my insurance dude (and supposedly was up until yesterday evening) never forwarded my new contact information to the various insurances and retirement plans that he was managing for me. oh you m*&%$&ing fugly person. you raked in the money for being the insurance dude for me and then you can’t even forward my address? mind you, that was nine months ago so you can imagine that i was fuming. who knows what mail i was missing out on.

and i definitely missed out on some mail because suddenly this month my rates increased and i KNOW that you always get a letter before that happens. i didn’t. and that’s how i noticed something could be going wrong. so i decided to email the guy (it was close to midnight) to clarify when he forwarded my new contact information. that’s when i got one of those mailerdemons telling me that the email address i used was invalid. so i googled the guy and guess what? he works at a different place now.

well thank you very much for letting me know!

i was still mad this morning and decided to go to an office of that insurance place here in LE right after work to set things right. the poor dude i ended up with did quite well in calming me down. he managed to get a hold of two insurance companies and it turns out they never received a notice of my new address. oh how lovely. and both said they had communication with me in the past months that was returned to them. yup. right.

the options i have to complain officially are rather limited because i do not have a problem with the insurance itself, just with the guy selling it. but i got some tips on who i can contact.

i’ve calmed down, i really dislike the guy though. oh if he crosses my path again…maybe i should channel my energy into writing the complaint letter. that will serve him right (he is still selling insurances…stay away from the fugly insurance guy!).

on a happy note? there’s none. unless you count in that i called up the job agency to let them know i will be unemployed in march…(no worries folks – yet – i am confident i will have my contract extended BUT so far i have nothing in writing so i have to plan ahead somewhat).

mission accomplished, i hope

i finally got rid of my apartment in WI. it took three months to find a new tenant (but i’m not getting into how much i believe that this was just a scam). the new lady is really nice and i came to realize that the real estate agent treated her like a money machine as well. what was really interesting for me, for weeks, he called because he wanted the new tenant in there sooner – of course without me being reimbursed for the rent that i had already paid. so i politely declined. and he called again and again. and then the new tenant called as well. talking about pressuring people, right? i actually believe they wanted my rent and the rent of the new tenant. you know, telling her, she can move in sooner and that this would be fine by me where all along it wasn’t.

eventually, i agreed on a week sooner, and the new tenant paid the rent to me. and then the calls started if it would be ok if she could move in a day sooner, and a day sooner…god!!! so annoying, let me tell you!

so, to make a long story short, i went to WI this past friday to hand over the last set of keys personally, pick up some last things, and of course see my friends there. good thing i went to the apartment in person because, guess what?!, they took down the wrong numbers for the water usage! what in the world?! you know, and this only happened because the owner didn’t care about showing up, despite telling me and the new tenant he would. the real estate agent was all about getting his money soon – so he didn’t bother what numbers he took down.

the new tenant and i took down the correct numbers and i made sure the electricity/gas people finally understand that i am moving out. that has been another struggle i’ve been dealing with for a month. i can’t tell you how relieved i am that at least on the paper, this situation is over.

in about 2 weeks or so, i will get the final electricity and gas bill. for the water, i think i have to wait until next february *darn long if you ask me*.

i’m also waiting for the deposit, supposedly the bank transfer was started.

my vacation in norway is in it’s planning stages – i’m so excited to see a new country! if you have any norway travel tips, let me know!

spring has arrived

at last! i hope. please!

and all of you who caught the flu or lost their voice or both (i saw you googled your condition and ended up at this blog), i hope you will feel better soon! don’t whisper if you can and don’t force your voice to work. it will come back. and is a lot healthier to give your voice the time it needs to heal.

on to moving issues. i have finally found a way to know what’s in all those boxes. i put them next to each other, kind of in a row, and not on top of each other as before. that way, i have them all open and can just walk from box to box digging for whatever i am looking for. now, you might think that i would have had that smart idea before…no, i didn’t. and because i didn’t want to lift boxes all the time, i just ignored them alltogether.

i still didn’t find my dvds though. for some reason i have the feeling, i left a box back home. which is not possible. but still…where is all the stuff that i need? i can only find useless things that i need to get rid of eventually. some time in the near future.

ok, nothing else has happened. i had some issues with the chimney sweeper in wiesbaden but i hope that is resolved now. ditched a small fine ;-)

oh, and i’m on long-distance au pair duty but that’s something i won’t get into.

enjoy the sunshine!
